•As Franklin Roosevelt was elected in 1932, Hitler was coming to power in
Germany. Describe Hitler’s rise to the top and the actions that he took which
caused Britain and France to declare war upon him. What was America’s response?

There were many reasons for the outbreak of WWI. There were two main sets of power
before the war that started having tension between them. One side of the power was
Germany and Austro-Hungary. The other side or group consisted of France, Serbia, Great
Britain, and Russia. Many alliances started between the years of 1887 and near the start of
the war. These alliances caused unrest on both sides of power. The Balkan Wars in
1912-1913 caused unrest in Albania because of Serbia’s invasion which Russia did nothing
to prevent. This showed that an isolated war could give one side more power than the other
which would unsettle the balance of power that was already fragile as it is due to the
