American New Comes in China
There are many different cultures in the world. Especially after I had read the article
“Polite but Thirty” written by Yaping, I realized that living in a new environment was not
easy at all. The reason is that people need to adjust to the new surrounding which can
make several newcomers shocked. If Native Americans come to my native country China,
there are three main customs they should know to avoid cross cultural misunderstandings.
They must know how to dress at weddings, the way of showing emotions and Chinese
concept toward.
One of the differences between Chinese and American is the way people dress at wedding.
China is a very traditional country. Unlike the U.S, the bride wears at red dress on her
wedding day. That is important for Americans day. That is important for Americans to
undress land before they visit China. According to Chinese belief, red is considered as
something lucky while is the symbol of funeral events. In contrast, at weddings in the USA
the bride usually wears white which is purity and simplicity.
The other cultural differences between China and America is how people express their
America when they see each other emotions when they see each other, Americans are
always open and friendly , because they want to show how positive and energetic they are.
In contrast, Chinese always hide their emotions because several people re shy due to the
traditional belief which teaches people to be conservative. Also showing their own
