America’s Involvement in Europe During World War II
The exact start date of World War II is highly debated by experts. The
popular answer is when Germany invaded Poland, but there were many other
events such as Japan’s invasion into Chinese territory in Manchuria or when Italy
invaded what is currently Ethiopia. Regardless of the beginning of World War II the
United States of America was doing what it could to prepare for a worst-case
scenario of having to enter the war. The United States was just coming out the Great
Depression and many were unsure if the nation could afford to go to war. Our
greatest ally, Britain, was already heavily engaged in war by the time 1940 came
