American Gangster and Hustle and Flow are both great films that help portray different
situations about two African American men and the struggles they have to go through to move
forward in life. There are many similarities between these two films in the aspects of what Frank
Lucas and DJay went through along their struggles, but there are also some key differences be-
tween the journeys of these two men. I believe that these two films and the stories of Frank Lu-
cas and DJay are a great portrayal of real stories about the struggle of not just African American
people but all people who have gone through hard situations and what they had to do to get
through life, as well as relating to people of all types of life struggles.
Frank Lucas is into the heroin business and Djay is a small-time pimp and weed dealer.
They both have a hustle that works for them and are simply trying to make it through life the
best they can. I really think that these films are great examples of stories about struggles, and
both show the ups and downs of these two city hustlers. Both Lucas and DJay have ambitions
to make a better situation for themselves. Anyone and everyone can relate to these two stories
and situations in some way because no matter who you are, you will go through struggles in life,
and it is what you make of every situation that gets you through even the toughest of times.
