Homework Week 3
Now a days nearly all vehicles in the U.S have internal combustion engines (ICEs) that operate
in a mixture of gasoline and nearly 10 percent of ethanol extracted from corn or diesel. These
motors are been use because of gasoline reduction and to keep down the pollution of greenhouse
gases. The advanced adoption of alternative vehicles is been accepted in todays times. For
example, electric vehicles are been used more often than ever and by 2050 it should increase,
minimizing the used of petroleum engines. Cost comes with this new improvement to alternative
vehicles, for example batteries and new technologies that are been applied to redesign new
engines and improving the whole car itself, like aerodynamics. Also, focusing on safety and
weight capacity is key when developing new types of vehicles. We can see the push to
alternative vehicle technology more often than before, on TV commercials and ads on billboards.
The way that the new vehicles are performing are amazing, for example HEVs and ICE,
electric motor, the fuel motor generates energy and the HEVs reduces the consumption of fuel.
The way this happens is, when the vehicle comes to a stop, idling or deceleration the engine
turns off reducing fuel. The FCEV is a hydrogen fuel cell that stored hydrogen power and turns it
into electric power. The benefits of these power cells are they are high energy efficient, zero
emissions, no pollution and have a longer mile range of 300-mile capacity. The focus in these
cell batteries is how to make more affordable and lest costly to produce and the years go by the
technology is making this possible for companies to produce their vehicles.
