Essentially, from the onset of the journey, Holland America had promised the
passengers that the company would take their temperatures prior to their getting on board
the cruise. However, the cruise ship company did not take the temperatures but let the
passengers onto the ship regardless. This was despite the company’s experience with the
Coronavirus on the Diamond Princess in Japan. There was also the cancellation of the stop
in Ushuaia (Harris et al., 2020). Despite having been caused by the Argentine
government’s closure of its borders to cruise ships, this implied that the passengers did not
get to have the experience that they had signed up for.
