Altered Perception
For this assignment, I decided to alter my perception by being unable to fully
communicate with individuals. I could only communicate using sort phrases and words, like that
of a 2 year old. I actually got the idea from spending a few hours with my niece.
My first experience happened when I got home from my work. Every day my neighbor
greets me by saying hello and asking how my day went. Normally, I respond by saying hello
back and making small talk for a few minutes, but that day was different. All I could do was
giggle and say hi in a small voice. Once I got inside, I felt extremely embarrassed and thought to
how awkward it would be to see him again. I also was worried that he would be upset with me
for not having our normal conversation that we do.
My second experience occurred when trying to answer phone calls. Luckily my Mom
