For a very long time philosophers have taught us to think and question everything that we
have learned. Because of the knowledge of the philosophers, they often see the world
differently from others. An example of this would be Socrates, Allegory of the Cave. Plato
was a philosopher in Greece who discusses the awareness of the Allegory of the Cave.
Plato was also the student of Socrates one of the founders of western philosophy.
The Allegory of the Cave is an explanation of how sometimes the things that we see aren’t
always the way we perceive them. We must feel and experience things before we can
actually say we have knowledge of something or know how it works. Before I started this
course I didn’t really know much about philosophy. When I saw the image of the Allegory
of the Cave for the first time without having read anything I had no idea what it was. To
me this picture looked like a scribble a baby would do. It wasn’t until I read and heard the
class lectures that I was able to see and interpret what this image was trying to say. I was
actually able to see the prisoners and the fire and everything that was being described. The
Allegory of the Cave also represents slaves being trapped in a cave away from reality. This
basically means us humans trapped inside of ourselves without getting to see or experience
anything outside of what we know. I believe that what Plato is trying to tell us with the
