Air and Liquid Systems Corp. VS. Devries
Air and Liquid System corp. VS Devries Is an interesting case due to
the amount of government involvement that is used within the trial the
case was heard on October 10,2018. The trial took place in the Supreme
Court of the United States, it was a dispute between the Manufacturers of
United States Navy ships and sailors Roberta G. Devries and Shirley McAfee.
According to the sailors the ships metals and components where insulated
with asbestos, and the sailors were exposed during their deployment and
the widows of the sailors claimed they developed cancer. Devries and
McAfee both sued multiple defendants of “manufacturers of ‘Bare metal”
sip components. The two plaintiffs sued in state courts under theories of
both negligence and strict liability. Which then lead to the defendant
manufacturers moving the case to federal court. The manufacturers argued
that they could not be held liable for the sailor’s injuries because the
manufacturers where actually shipping there products out in bare metal
