Human resources has always had problems with discrimination throughout history,
starting with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This act prohibited any form of discrimination in the
workplace. There are many different forms of discrimination including racial, age, gender,
pregnancy, and religion discrimination. It comes as a big shock to some people that
discrimination is still occurring today because sometimes, if workers do not experience this
firsthand, they are blind to discrimination. Although it is illegal, discrimination still occurs.
The Age Discrimination in the Employment Act, “forbids age discrimination against
people who are age 40 or older. It does not protect workers under the age of 40, although some
states have laws that protect younger workers from age discrimination.” (Roselli 1). There are a
few stipulations to this act including an employer can favor an older worker over a younger one,
