Rhetorical Precis: “After PTSD, More Trauma”
Form marine Infantry Officer, David J. Morris, in his article, “After PTSD, More
Trauma,” argues that the Veterans Affairs department does not do enough to help veterans deals
with the effects of war. He supports his claim by first describing the severity of his trauma, then,
he describes the long, exhausting process of trying to sign up for therapy at the V.A., and finally,
he explains that the treatment he received was not even effective. In fact, it made things worse,
heightening his symptoms. Morris’s purpose is to spread awareness of the poor treatment
veterans receive, in order to hopefully get the V. A.’s attention so that they change the poor
treatment. He adopts an infuriated tone for the Veterans Affairs Department.
