Growing up in Africa gives me firsthand experience to some of
the issues
highlighted by Burgis and I reiterate that one of the biggest
challenge to
economic growth in Africa is poor leadership seasoned with
greed that
is manifested by looting of funds earned from natural resources.
However, the political environment in Africa is changing fast
because
the masses in some African countries are tired of the persistent
corruption are demanding more accountability from their
leaders. The
quest for better leadership has led to the uprisings in countries
like
Tunisia and Egypt and also led to a successful change of
government in
a widely free and fair election of an opposition party in Nigeria.
