Affordable Care Act’s Affects on Abortion
Abortion policies and procedures have seen a considerable change after the
implementation of The Affordable Care Act. Before the ACA, many women were uninsured and
unable to afford the price of an abortion. Now, all women are able to receive insurance including
access to abortion and often without co-pay regardless of their insurance provider. In addition to
abortion, many women’s preventative health services are covered by their new federally funded
insurance program. Unfortunately, as access to health care for women is increased, the toll taken
on taxpayers is also increased. There is a large amount of controversy over whether taxpayers
should have to pay for abortions on command for women who have federally funded insurance.
