Advertising: Is It Really a New Age?
Picture these: A sign with a yellow M with a red background. A check mark on a shoe,
bag, or any piece of apparel. A horse with a guy on top of it, also on some sort of apparel. Some
may think that advertising is something that they can avoid but in all reality, advertising is
everywhere and even while hiding in your room, there ought to be something in the room that
relates to some company. “Advertising is everywhere. As it becomes more ubiquitous, we tend to
ignore it. But as we tend to ignore it, advertisers fins new ways to make it more ubiquitous. As a
result, and as with television, no one is neutral about advertising. We love it or we hate it. Many
of us do both.” (Baran, 2010, pp.323) We are in an age where advertising is taking over the
world. There is no place you can go where advertising hasn’t beaten you there but has
advertising changed over the years? And if so, how?
