1. (a) How is the proposed system will solve the issue faced by the organization?
Enterprise Resource Planning System
Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) systems are multiple module software packages that
evolved primarily from traditional manufacturing resource planning (MRPII) system. The
objective of ERP is to integrate key processes of the organization such as order entry,
manufacturing, procurement and accounts payable, payroll, and human resources. An ERP
system eliminates repetitive processes and greatly reduces the need to manually enter
information. The system will also streamline business processes and makes it easier and more
efficient for Learning Management Corporation to collect data. Instead of having data
distributed throughout a number of separate databases, all information is now located in a
single location. Data is also kept consistent and up-to-date. Besides that, ERP software helps
make reporting easier and more customizable. With improved reporting capabilities,
company can respond to complex data requests more easily. Users can also run their own
reports without relying on help from IT. It is easier to provide high-quality customer service
using an ERP system. Sales and customer service people can interact with customers better
and improve relationships with them, through faster, more accurate access to customers’
information and history. A new system also will improve the accuracy, consistency and
security of data. Restrictions to data can also be enhanced.
(b) Working mechanism of the system
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
The modules that make up an ERP system streamline and unify enterprise operations.
Barriers that existed between departments are quickly eliminated, and corporate data becomes
easily accessible. The purpose of an ERP system is to simplify and automate the logistical
process of daily business operations. A good example would be how ERP facilitates a multi–
step process like order entry. When sales representatives take orders from customers, the ERP
system allows them to instantaneously access credit ratings, customer order history and
inventory. This cuts out the need to involve the warehouse or finance department, eliminating
wasted time and inefficiencies.
