Adoption
Scott Simon once said, “Despite the reams of paperwork, obstacles worthy of a horse
show, and wait that can rival an elephant’s gestation, adoption fells no different on the
inside.” When the parents adopt a child they all become a family the same recipe book the
biological parents possess should be the same access the adoptive parents and child can
obtain when joining this new family. Adoption records should be opened rather than sealed
for the sake of the child and their parents.
Indeed of course, with the opening of these records the biological parents can find the
family their child belongs to and get the ability to have a relationship with their birth
parents if they so choose. Some birth parents may have to put their child up for adoption in
best interest for the child at that moment in hoping it will be better for their future. Maybe
the birth parents were too young or not financially stable or physically stable in order to
raise a child under the correct conditions. They chose the option to give the child to a
family that could do something for the child that they couldn’t.
Undoubtedly, if the records are open the child may find out about their adoption through
someone else if they knew nothing about being adopted. Nevertheless, it is good for the
child and the adoptive parents to know their background. Adoption is defined as to choose
