DIRECTIONS
From Houghton take Memorial Drive [M-26] across the lift bridge and into the Keweenaw. Turn left to stay
on US-41. Follow US-41 through Hancock and Calumet continuing for 30.2 miles to Gratiot Lake Rd and
turn right. This road is about 2 miles down the road from the Eagle Harbor Cut-Off Rd. Continue up
Gratiot Lake Rd for 2.7 miles and turn left on Horace Greeley Rd. Continue up the road .4 miles until you
reach the site. If you see a million NO TRESPASSING signs on Horace Greeley Rd, you’re at the right
place. I suggest parking somewhere else and walking to the site – preferably at night.

From Houghton take Memorial Drive [M-26] across the lift bridge and into the Keweenaw. Turn right on
M-26 across the bridge towards Dollar Bay and continue 4.7 miles. Turn right on Montreal Rd and
continue for 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Senter Rd and continue for 0.4 miles before making a right hand turn
to stay on Senter Rd. Continue on Senter Rd for 1.6 miles. There will be a house followed by a lot of
abandoned buildings on your left.

From Houghton take Memorial Drive [M-26] across the lift bridge and into the Keweenaw. Turn left to stay
on US-41. Follow US-41 through Hancock and Calumet continuing for 35.9 miles to Lac La Belle Rd and
turn right. Take Lac La Belle Rd 7.4 miles to Smith Fisheries Road, just before you reach the bay. (For
some reason the road has a no trespassing sign, which you can ignore.) Keep on Smith Fisheries Rd. for
2.5 miles until you get to a spot to the right with parking for 3-4 cars.

–This is the entry that begins with the Michigan Nature Association’s signs to the bluff. After a
.7-mile walk down the old road, a blue sign to the left signals the beginning of the hiking trail.
Soon another sign with a map of the 3-mile loop emerges. As you head up, be sure to follow the

From Houghton take Memorial Drive [M-26] across the lift bridge and into the Keweenaw. Turn right onto
M-26 towards Lake Linden and continue for 10.6 miles. Turn right on 9​th​ Street/Bootjack Road. Continue
for 2.2 miles and turn left on Rice Lake Road. Continue on Rice Lake Rd. for 6.2 miles and turn left on a
small two-track (N47​ 10.695 W88 15.935​)​ ​just past a blueberry farm on your right. Drive this two-track for
about .1 miles and the berries will be on your right just off the road.

left on Amygdaloid St. and continue for .9 miles, Turn right on 1​th​ St. and continue for .9 miles. There will
be a driveway on your right, about 10 feet down the driveway the spring will be on your left.
