The paper will focus on the case of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football)
where the executives were found to engage in extortion, money laundering, and criminal case
that happened in 2015 after the Panama papers. The company has over 200 nations as their
associates. FIFA Corporation has the responsibility of publicizing football around the world. The
company acknowledges the six alliances that help them in overseeing the soccer activities in
various parts of the globe. The United States football association is among the 41 members in the
CONCACAF association. Its headquarters are in America and has been accounted for
incrimination. The South American association known as CONMEBOL has been a focus of the
arraignment (The United States Department of justice, 2015).
In 2011, the United States carried out an analysis on their companies as a result of complaints
on corruption. The suspected bribes amounted to more than one-hundred million dollars which
were related to scholarships, copyrights of television, and retailing. The country carried out the
research on the Caribbean, the American, and South American football associations. The second
analysis commenced in November 2014 which was governed by Switzerland. FIFA Company
made a request to Switzerland to supervise them due to the suspicions of inconsistency in the
2018 to 2022 offers for the World Cup. The analysis was carried out and it was found that the
association’s managers carried out money laundering activities (The United States Department of
justice, 2015).
