This article is related to the decline of entrepreneurship. The article firstly provides us a
column diagram from Labor Department, which illustrates the startup job creation on the
decline. According to this situation, an economist named Tim Kane begins to analyze how
many jobs they create based on the reason of decline.
The column diagram shows that the startup job creation is declining from year to year. The
situation is the startup jobs are fewer and the existing jobs are hiring fewer people. The
author believes that this situation will be the serious threat to American workforce since
the startups are the true job creators in U.S. This part introduces us the current
environment of American’s workforce and makes us pay attention to the sharp decline of
the job opportunity.
After analyzing the data provided by the Labor Department, Mr. Kane shows us there exist
only 8 businesses we can start now. That is to say, the entrepreneurship experiences
sharper decline than ever. Mr. Kane then posts some probable reasons. The first reason is
from the local regulations. It is much harder to open a small business than ever, because
city officials, local boards and state governments have many kinds of regulations to limit
the small businesses’ operation. It is true today. We can see more and more people would
like to invest their own business, but limited by the government regulations, which directly
destroy the opportunity for new entrepreneurs to start their own business and affect the
