Accounting as a Profession
By taking accounting classes, it can help in your career path in many ways. With earning
an accounting degree, or even just a bookkeeping or tax certificate, one can get numerous
different jobs. I have thought about lots of different jobs to pursue, such as a bookkeeper, tax
accountant, a certified public accountant, or even a financial analyst or advisor. It’s easy to see
that with any of these professions, accounting classes will help develop my skills for this type of
job field. By learning about assets, liabilities, payable accounts and expenses, this will help me
further my mathematical knowledge to move higher in the accounting field and possibly even
own my own accounting firm one day.
Currently, I work at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort as a table games dealer. I couldn’t
have found that I actually like accounting without the math that I do at my job daily. When I was
in high school, I never liked math classes, but after having my job at Harrah’s and taking an
accounting class, I have found myself pursuing an accounting degree. First, I am working
towards earning my bookkeeping certificate at Southwestern Community College. This
