According to World Bank (2019), education is fundamental to the growth and
development of a country. In this sense, it is obvious to see a trend where countries get
to spend a significant amount of its national budget in educating the youth so that the
prospect of development may not be far-off.
In recent developmental studies conducted by international organizations like the United
Nations and World Bank, it can be said that education is an effective weapon towards
realizing the potential of a country. In this sense, it is imperative to invest on
infrastructures, systems, and even manpower to readily carry out this tumultuous task of
educating the torch bearers of the future.
To achieve a future where economic development, active citizenry, and effective
governance is present – being able to provide quality education that seeks to form the
youth with values and principles must be implemented, to safeguard the promise of a
brighter future for the country (UNDP, 2019).
Through empowering the people via education, it increases their consciousness about
what is wrong in the society and be able to act upon it in the most rational way and be
able to provide for themselves better.
In this sense, the importance that education holds for an individual greatly vary – for those
that have been experiencing luxury since birth, it may just be an enhancement of their
lifestyle; however, for those that have nothing (except for name and dignity), being able
to open a multitude of opportunities is already a huge achievement that can be made as
a testament to their grit and determination.
To summarize, education is both a tool for nation-building and opening opportunities for
individuals. As we raise the competence of every citizen, we are able to open doors of
