Academic Event
Today, I went to an event with a lot of kids from this class held in Moffett. We went to a
lecture regarding sustainability and climate change delivered from a Syracuse Professor and
Scholar named A. Peter Castro. Castro has been a professor at Syracuse for years and has
traveled all around the world training people how to deal with climate change. I learned a lot
from this lecture about climate change and how it affects sustainability in Africa. Africa has
many problems, but their most important problem seems to be climate change. Castro talked
about how Africa’s climate is very inconsistent, and they go through many droughts that they
never see coming. With droughts come bad harvests, and bad harvests bring starvation for the
