A Whole New World
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was devastated. Moving to this new town hours
away from my house, cousins and friends, I didn’t know what to expect. I was going to start
school for the first time in a whole different place. This change taught me how to work harder
and showed me that not everything in life would be easy.
Having being born by the border, I grew up speaking Spanish and that’s what was
originally planned for me until the move. I lived in a big city named McAllen, Texas until I was
five years old knowing nothing but Spanish when my family and I moved to a small town by the
coast named Palacios, Texas. My parents enrolled me in kindergarten. There was an upper class
and a lower class. Since I knew absolutely no English, I was automatically sent to the lower class
