Abstract
In this interpersonal relationship research paper, the author used the friendship between
her roommate and herself as an example to analyze the interpersonal relationship. The author
analyzed the interpersonal relationship from many different aspects, which includes theories of
interpersonal communication and relationships, stages of a relationship, type of interpersonal
relationships, communication styles and listening, and styles of conflict and conflict
management. Also, the author uses some definition of terms from the textbook and gets some
information from website to support her research paper.

FRIENDSHIP WITH ROOMMATE
At the beginning of this research paper, the author wants to narrate a story, which is about
two roommates who have trouble in their friendship. One day Lily and Mary went to the gym to
do some exercises. Both of them prepared to take a shower afterwards. Lily occupied the shower
room unconsciously which was always used by Mary. Mary was very annoyed, but she had no
choice except to use the other shower room. Then, they went to the steaming room without
talking. Mary went back to the shower room first and used the shower room she always used.
She locked the door, but Lily’s stuff was left in that room. When Lily came back she found Mary
in this room and Mary refused to give Lily’s stuff to her. Therefore, they had a keen argument
with each other. Lily talked loudly out of the door. At first, Mary responded to her. However, she
kept silence in the end. Some bad effects were raised in their friendship. Lily thought Mary was
too arbitrary. Mary thought Lily shouldn’t yell to her. Both of them thought each other should
