A Raisin in The Sun
1) The writer describes the house and the furnishings first so we can
imagine how they live in a small house all together. The family is poor
and everyone has their own dreams to live a better life.
2) I don’t think Walter is sympathetic character. He gets mad at
Beneatha because she wants be a doctor. He doesn’t think she can do it
as woman. He thinks woman should just stay at their home and marry
the richest man they could find. Those thoughts make him close
minded. He loses the family’s money. My feelings about him didn’t
change at the end. The family would have been better off without him
losing the money they needed.
3) She thinks her dreams and future are taken right out of her hands.
She says she doesn’t care about being a doctor anymore because she
things what happened is not fair that she didn’t have any choice. She
had dreams about becoming a doctor to be a cure to sicknesses. But
when she learns that the money is gone she gives up on her dreams.
