A Horse & 2 Goats Narrative Essay
R. K. Narayan’s, A Horse and Two Goats, is a story about Muni and his encounter
with an American man. Muni has a background of having many goats and now only has two.
He went to the shop and he tried to purchase items but he did not have the sufficient funds
and the shop man made fun of his age after Muni said he would receive birthday money as a
present. He then went to try and sell the fruit of the tree near his hut and he tied up his
goats and then he sat under a statue horse that “was nearly life-size, molded out of clay,
baked, burnt, and brightly colored” (Narayan 129). As he sat there a car stopped and an
American tourist asked him questions but neither spoke the other’s language. They talked
