A Friend or a Foe
Just like fire, a person can use it for a good or bad action, a double-edged sword.
Mishandling an object can bring forth a consequence that may harm people. Recently,
President Rodrigo Duterte signed a law that can easily dictate or arrest a person if he or
she incite any act of terrorism. The law grants a person with authority to accuse any
civilian just by mere suspicion. The law creates terror to citizens as it suppresses the
freedom of expression and unlawfully detains a person. (International Service For
Human Rights, 2020)
The current administration made lots of questionable actions to the country.
Thus lots of critics and doubts were thrown to the government. While lots of Filipinos
suffer from poverty and injustice, the government blatantly excuses themselves from
