The House that Crumbled
The art of telling a proper lie is one that can destroy and save a relationship, one that can
build trust, but trust of falsehoods. In Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll House, a man named Torvald
Helmer leads a stereotypical existence with his wife Nora, one where he is the breadwinner for
the family and she stays home tending to the house and children. Only at one point in their
marriage was Torvald not seen as the breadwinner, when he was desperately ill. He required a
trip to Italy to see the doctors whom could save him, and unbeknownst to him Nora forged her
