“A Class Divided”
In the movie there was a teacher who was in the period of racism and the
killing of Martin Luther King. She saw that the technics were not working because
they were little 3rd graders that could not get the concept of it. They would need to
be shown on what racism, discrimination, and prejudice was. She made a technic to
where she would split class in half and make one more superior than the other. She
made one half of the class more superior to the other and then switched it up the
next day. When she split the sides up, she saw this actually raised a couple issues
with each other in the class. There was bullying going on with best friends;
classmates wouldn’t be able to do the same things as the superior one could. They
would have to put things around their necks to show that they were different. When
felt different after they went through her program and didn’t treat anyone different.
