All over the decades women have been mistreated. President Jimmy Carter talks about the end of
abuse and discrimination against all women of this world because this issue is part of a system of
discrimination, that is why he wrote this book. He realized how women were deprived of equal
opportunity in first world countries. This system of discrimination involves labeling women as
less competitive human beings
When we talk about women and the role in religion, it is very interesting how the East and the
West are very different in how Women’s Rights are approached. Islam laws for example have a
huge impact in women’s life, including education, rights to inheritance, female circumcision,
dress, age of marriage, freedom to consent to marriage, marriage contract, permissibility of birth
control, divorce, sex outside or before marriage, her ability to receive justice in case of sex
