1. If you were to start your own company, would you have it operate under centralized or
decentralized authority? Begin by briefly describing your company.
If I were starting my own company, I would begin with centralized authority. I would like to
make sure everything is going to plan, and I have everything set in place to my taste as much as
possible in terms of employees and big decisions.
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of your choice?
People who usually thrive on doing their work independently may find that kind of authority
stifling, but others who prefer being told exactly what to do would benefit from that. This way
you can also make sure everyone is doing their job.
3. Of the four principal types of organizational structures, which would you choose for
your company? Why?
I would choose bureaucracy with hints of matrix organization. I think every department should
have a manager or supervisor that they respond to, but project managers help utilize all
departments to work together for a common good, which is the company. This way the
different departments do not feel so separate or superior from each other.
