Reader Response is basically what is understood from the passage based on how they read it. The
authorial intent is the message that the author tries to convey, the actual definition of what is said.

Because lack of communication can lead to misinterpretation in ambiguous phrases. Even in simple
writings the interpretation can be off without communication.

1. Exodus 23:13 “Thou Shalt not kill”
Can be interpreted as though shall not murder, but killing is taking the life of another where murder is
intentionally taking the life of another without just cause.
