Purpose
The purpose of this proposal is to write a manual on how to compete a sew-in. This manual will focus
solely on the basics of installation and preparation of a sew-in. After reading and using this manual,
readers will be familiar and comfortable completing the installation process. With this manual,
readers will be able to successfully install a sew–in and correct any mistakes they may run into during the
installation process.
Manuel Content
This manual is directed towards individuals who are interested in installing sew-ins. From
cosmetologists to individuals who just do hair as a side job, this manual is written to assist in learning
how to install sew-ins on African American’s hair. Because the audience is aimed towards beginners, the
manual will be written in lament terms be used as a guide. The manual will have written and visual
instructions to provide an easy learning process. In the manual there will be several sections, broken down
into sub sections to have clarity, organization and thorough explanations of each step. In the first section,
I will provide the tools necessary to successfully complete an installation. Within this section I will also
provide recommendations along with brief explanations on each tool and their importance. In the next
section I will explain the preparation steps and stages. Following the preparation stages, will be the
braiding section where I will explain the braid pattern and how to achieve a smooth, flat foundation for
the installation. Following this section will be a sub section for an alternative braid patter just in case the
original braid patter is a little difficult or challenging. Next, we will enter the weave preparation stage. In
this section I will be discussing how to prep, lay and thread your needle and thread before taking that first
