Key Figure(s) Associated with Psychoanalytic Theory
There are many key figures associated with the Psychoanalytic theory, which
paved the way for how we assist individuals with their behavior: Sigmund Freud, Erik
Erikson, and Carl Jung. The main figure who created the psychoanalytic theory was
Sigmund Freud. Sigmund Freud believed the way people behaved was due to their
deeper, darker secrets within their minds. He saw in himself issues he had with his
childhood thoughts and memories, which were causing him to react in negative ways, to
things going on in his own life. His theory determined the “cause and effect”, if you will,
to how individuals can gain back their mental power by realizing what was deep inside
and treating those thoughts and memories.
Sigmund also worked with other key figures to develop the psychoanalytic theory,
