50th Birthday Toast
I’m so thankful all of you could make it today. I’m so happy I get to spend my 50th Birthday with
some of my favorite people. I’d like to make a toast to myself because I’ve come a long way.
When I was in high school, I dreamed of being an engineer but look at me now traveling the
world curating some of the most amazing art exhibits and finding new up and coming artist and
offering them a platform where they can share their work with the world. I sometimes think
about how my life would be I had studied engineering but alas my heart lies with art. I’d like to
give out a few thanks. Thank you to my parents who supported me when I couldn’t, pursuing an
art career isn’t always easy. Thank you to my friends that helped me unwind when I was strung
too tightly, I know I was a pain during those times. Thank you without yall in my life I would not
be the same Xiclalic.
I’ve always strives to be the person you come to, the one you confide in and in these past few
years I think I achieved that. When you come to me when you need help or someone to talk to, I
feel truly honored so thank you trusting me.
Now on to my biggest achievement that I will never stop talking about because I still can’t
believe it happened. My trip to Greece. Of you know anything about me you know I love Greek
art, be it Classical, Hellenistic or the Roman copies I love it all. Not only did I see it in person
and study it, but I was also able to gather pieces from modern artist that took inspiration from
this era and display it to the public. I can still remember the feeling, the joy it brought me, and
ultimately this feeling is why I do it.
I’ll keep my last thank you short, I want to thank myself. Thank you Xiclalic for being your best
self, thank you for trusting yourself, and thank you for being awesome.
