There’s Always Something More We Can Do
The Error in ‘ There’s Nothing More We Can Do’ is published by
Dawn M. Gross in 15th, July 2015. I was attracted by the title when I first
time saw it. I was a little bit confused about what the author wanted to
express after I read though the article. But after reading the article
several times, I started thinking and understanding. Gross, a physician
reveals what physicians suppose to do but they didn’t do during treating
a patient; it’s “asking” the question to patients. Dr. Gross always asks
what the patients really hope after they are received by hospice. The
Error in ‘ There’s Nothing More We Can Do’ pointed an ignored problem
when a physician treated patients, which is asking a patient what he or
she desires. So, I strongly agree with Dr. Gross’ opinion about the
obligation of a physician for asking terminal patients what they are
willing to do if they don’t have much time left instead of telling them
there’s nothing more they can do.
Dr. Gross talked about a story of one of her patient. The patient

who was named Ms. Weatherby; she was s 57 years old woman that had a
serious collection of diseases. This old lady had to use a breathing
machine to keep her alive. Even though many doctors think that life
supporter is very uncomfortable and painful, Ms. Weatherby insisted to
use the life supporter treatment. Her attending physician said that she
would never leave the hospital; it means that her attending physician
hoped she could leave the hospital and just spend rest of her life outside
