Introduction
College is an exciting time for a student — navigating friendships, independence, intellectual
growth, and responsibilities. Many students (and families) are shocked, however, once they see
the annual fees. Universities compete against each other to attract quality students by providing
financial aids. Here we see a common problem as to every university chasing for the creamy layer.
In such a fix, how do we prepare a model for a university that they are able to grant customized
financial aid depending upon the student rank secured in high school, the parent’s affordability
for college expenses and the gender of the student.
If we are able to successfully create a model wherein financial aid to student is customized
depending on his/her rank, parent’s affordability and student gender, we would be helping out
universities reaching out to students with customized financial aids and this would result in the
university admitting great talents and reducing competition from other universities where a
general financial aid model exists.
