1. Describe the overall leadership style(s) of your chosen senior executive.
Dollar General has been around since the 1950’s and their goal and mission was to keep it simple
and affordable for everyone. The concept was based on convenience and selling quality brands at
a reasonable cost to its customers (Company Facts, 2014). There are about 6000 Dollar General
Stores and are located in forty states. I work for five years for Dollar General under the
leadership of their District Manager, whose leadership skills were poor. The District Manager
never built her employees
up, there was always criticism and constant belittlement. The store had a Manager who always
encouraged the employees, listened to their complaints, and ideas on how the store could better
serve the customers and increase sales. The company had sales goals and projections and that
was how the hours were set for the store. If goals and projections were not met, this meant that
the employees hours would be cut and the Managers would have to work longer hours and
sometime run the store by themselves. The Manager of the store had a very productive team that
