The term “family” is something that can be discussed among many people when it comes
to who composes a family. To some, family is considered those who are related by blood through
different generations. For others, family can include friends and house pets. Everyone has their
own family in some way. Through different family theories, we are able to explain the questions
we ask about families, such as the who, what, and where. Family theories help discover the truth
about certain events in different perspectives to create a more complete picture. This paper is
going to focus on two different theories which include the Symbolic Interactionism and the
Acculturation Theory and provide examples of these theories to gain a better understanding of it.
When we are born, we are expected to learn the things that we know through our parents
or guardians and eventually through other people we interact with. One of the founding theorists
of Symbolic Interactionism, George Herbert Mead believed that infants are born at a blank slate
