US History 2 Final Project Guidelines
FOR THE INTERVIEW:
1. Let them talk.
2. Ask about THEIR life experiences. Try not to force topics on them. The goal is to find
out about their lives as they relate to the times.
3. If you are looking for them to say more about a given topic, try asking general questions
and allowing them time to talk
• “Can you tell me more about that?”
• “Is there anything else you can remember about that?”
• “How did that make you feel?”
• “What was that like?”
4. Find what they want to talk about
5. Be incredibly sensitive. If they don’t want to talk about something, don’t force it. Be
considerate of the questions you are asking. Especially to veterans.
6. Most importantly… LISTEN to what they are saying.
7. Collect as much interview as you can. You can always cut down the interview into your
final product. Don’t simply record 5 minutes and think it will be enough to produce a
good product. Remember that part of the assignment (the written and discussion
element) will be able to draw from beyond the video portion.
FOR THE VIDEO FINAL PRODUCT:
You do NOT, nor should you, need to use the entire interview for this portion. The goal is to
