Importance of Community Service
I think it is very important to participate in community service as a student and also as a business
major. I enjoy participating in community service and it is something I do frequently. Through
my sorority I have had the opportunity to volunteer at Ronald Mcdonald House twice a month in
addition to numerous other volunteer opportunities. Although, this was my first time
volunteering with Let There be Mom I think it is a great organization to volunteer with that
makes an impact on the community.

Organizations Name: Let There be Mom
Organization's Mission: Let There be Mom is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving
local moms and dads who are battling a life-threatening illness.
Organizations Constituency: Let There be Mom provides services to moms and dads who are
battling life-threatening illnesses.
Services the Organization provides: Let There be Mom works to preserve the legacies of
moms and dads with life threatening illnesses. If a family is chosen to receive a project the
families must provide photographs, clothing for quilts, or items for shadow boxes.

Description of Community Service Performed: While volunteering with Let There Be Mom at
the Annual Bingo Dash I helped checkin in teams that participated in the Bingo Dash and I also
watched the blow up slide.
Support to Mission and Constituencies: I helped watch kids on the blow up slide which
benefited the families that participated in the Bingo Dash so their parents could mingle and talk.
Let There be Mom’s mission is to preserve the legacies of parents with life threatening diseases
for their kids to remember them and volunteering at the Bingo Dash helped the non-profit raise
money to help parents.
Resume Entry or interview talking point: Let There be Mom is a well known non-profit that
benefits a lot of families in the upstate so many people have been touched with their services. In
an interview I would talk about all the skills I learned while volunteering and making
connections with the families that are impacted by Let There be Mom.
