NTT DOCOMO, INC. is the largest mobile phone operator. The company is headquartered
in Tokyo, Japan. It provides nationwide 3G networks, long term evolution (LTE) network,
one of the world first launched, and 2G networks. The company has one R&D division,
two independent divisions responsible for consumer and corporate business: Smart-life
Business division and Smart-life Business division, and one global business division for
the development of global business.

1. As the leading mobile telecom company in Japan, DoCoMo possesses the largest market
share. Even though the deregulation and intense competition from KDDI and Softbank
have eroded some of the market share, DoCoMo still maintains its leading position by
providing high quality service and advanced technology.
2. The mobile phone market is no longer confined to just phone calls or information
access, but is shifting toward the integration of life and technology. Since DoCoMo has
strong R&D capability, NTT is capable of making a substantial profit by providing novel
service incorporated with new technology because the Japanese are willing to pay
premium prices for new technology and service.

1. Revenue from fixed-line services is declining as the spread of cable, satellite and
internet as customers shift to more convenient and cheaper service over the new
technology. In addition, in order to retain customers, DoCoMo has been forced to decrease
