How all of us are Miss Brill- a result of the modern society?
The central problem of this story is the pain of loneliness and the undeniable attempts of
lonely people who try to live their lives mournfully and insidiously through others and their
environment. Rather than finding company through interaction with others, the lonely among us
find satisfaction in experiencing the joys of life through others. For instance, Miss Brill, she had
only one entertainment in her life - to watch the visitors of the park. Unfortunately, this is often
the case. Loneliness pushes in search of some kind of entertainment, occupation. She is capable
of love, full of desire to understand others, to feel like a part of human brotherhood. But on the
other hand, she was mired in striving to remain an optimist in this complex world, in not
recognizing reality. She understands what position she is in, but she creates for herself the
illusion that everything is fine. It is certainly a pity for such people. Especially when someone
inflicts a mental wound on them or insults them, just like that, without any purpose, because of
their stupidity or even licentiousness.
The story was written hundred years ago, but the problem of loneliness is relevant even
today. It seems that in the modern world, where every day a person meets a thousand
acquaintances and strangers, communicates with them, works in a team, loneliness does not
threaten anyone. In fact, not everything is so simple. A person deep inside can be so lonely that
he does not notice the people around him.

Even the story was written in the 19th century it is still teach society useful lesson such as
deceitfulness of appearance. Madame Loisel is a beautiful woman who belongs to the middle
class and has everything that is need for a good and happy life but she always unhappy with it
because she wants more. She wants to portray a different image other than middle-class status,
Matilda uses the necklace to portray a deceptive reality for other party supporters and for herself,
believing that she too deserves this status automatically because of her beauty. But this desire
ends with irony, as the necklace that Matilda was looking for to prove her self-worth and looks
ended up destroying her beauty over 10 difficult years paying off the necklace's debt. I
understand that it is important for person to admit their mistake overcoming pride and not being
afraid of shame because it can make your life easier and you can live breathing deeply. Also, I
noticed here such conflicts are traced as the conflict of desires and possibilities, human weakness
